Balance for Riders Expert Jill Hassler Questions (For answers, scroll down or click on
question) Questions and Answers A: First, try to find a way to be aware of your
mind and body. One of the first things to do is eliminate your body with a simple exercise
check: can you touch your opposite toes without moving your leg, off the horse? On the
horse? Can you touch your chin to the crest of your horses neck without moving your
legs? Can you lean back at least to a 45-degree angle without moving your legs? If the
answer to this is no, try getting a massage or two and have the therapist help you devise
some exercises that you can practice off the horse to become more physically supple. If
you find your body is flexible but your mind is tight, investigate a form of mediation
that is good for you and learn it, and use it. Ti Chi is good, as is the form of Yoga that
Lil Lack has developed for riders as they involve movement and relaxation mind and
body. |
